The Library Bar: Beauties & Bestsellers
The Library Bar
7 Avenue A, at Houston Street
Humphrey Bogart said, “The trouble with the world is that everybody in it is three drinks behind.” In New York, if you want those three drinks, you should have the bartenders at The Library Bar mix them.
This is the place where the jukebox is pumping out old punk rock gems, and the dazzling bartenders are pouring really stiff drinks. The staff is all a bunch of charmers. It’s impossible to have a bad time with them (unless you are underage – don’t even try to get in if you aren’t 21).
Note: There is more than one Library Bar in New York City. This is the original one, in the East Village, and not the terrible hotel bar in Midtown, of the same name.
There are actual books on the wall at The Library Bar, but you’d have to be a fool to actually be reading one and not pay attention to your bartenders. They are all cool, and play old “B” movies on a big screen in the back.
The bartenders at The Library are among the best in New York, and combined with the great atmosphere of this drinker’s paradise, it isn’t to be beat. It is within stumbling distance of other excellent drinking establishments; next door is Nice Guy Eddie’s and across the street is the Double Down Saloon and Julep.
Be sure to mention that you saw them on nycbp.com, and tip ‘em well!
