We're starting to hear about Independence Day plans... Nick from The Library Bar: We will be celebrating our 4th anniversary on the 4th of July! It will also be Elizabeth's fourth anniversary (as she was one of our original group of bartenders). She will be serving up a $2.50 "grab bag" of premium beers from around the world from 9:00 PM til Midnight. That's 4 beers for $10!

The annual Mermaid Day Parade is in Coney Island on Saturday the 22nd. Of course we're all going. To mark the occassion, Nice Guy Eddie's is running a special, with a deep-sea theme: A special meal deal for two people, steamed clams, corn on the cob, boiled new potatoes and a pitcher of New Amsterdam or Bud/Bug Light. All for $22.95 for two. Eddie's is also doing $3 pints and $10 pitchers of the same three beers, all night long.

Sign me and my mermaids up!

cuOh. My. God. There's going to be a sequel to Coyote Ugly.

I got the tip from RileyG, an actor, stuntman and all-around bar regular. He sent this to me from a movie website:

Scribe bellies up to bar for 'Ugly' sequel
Wendkos to write part two to romantic comedy
By DANA HARRIS, CATHY DUNKLEY

Jerry Bruckheimer Films is heading back for another round at the Coyote Ugly. Gina Wendkos, who penned the 2000 pic "Coyote Ugly," has been drafted to write a sequel. Original was the tale of Violet "Jersey" Sanford, an innocent singer who loses her inhibitions while working at an all-girl bar. Budgeted at $45 million, modest by Bruckheimer standards, the romantic comedy grossed more than $100 million worldwide. The soundtrack and video release were also top sellers. It starred Piper Perabo, Adam Garcia, Maria Bello and Bridget Moynahan.

What do you guys think about this shocking subject? Let us know on the chat board. And if you want to read something hilarious, read the 1999 review by Doc Holliday's bartenders Joanna, Valerie and Stacy. Click here.

Or even better, go there this weekend and see Sara, Kimmy, Maria, Tella, Cyndi...

bellaWell you can now all see the new Bachelor Party Guide. It was a LOT of work. Let me tell you the history.

I've been asked to put together about 25 bachelor parties. I've NEVER been a bestman, I'm just the guy who gets asked to find the bar, find the strippers, get the thing organized. Last summer, 2 big, life-changing things happened: I met maniac Mark at Who's On First and also sexy Belladonna of Wild Things, Inc. I started getting this idea, from being around them, that they would be experts at this. Maybe a good magazine a story... NO a web guide.

Last November, Bella shot a porno in Mark's bar. It was a riot. It was also a LONG day. So while we were sitting at the bar (this was during the daytime, when the bar was closed), I started interviewing Mark. I did it Q&A style, jotting down notes on the back of darts league rulebooks. I got some incredible material.

markOne night, not long after, Bella was hanging out at my apartment, waiting for one of her girls to drop off some money from a bachelor party. I told her my idea, and got out my tape recorder. Bella was dead tired, but she talked and talked and talked. I got about an hour on tape. Then I got a second interview a few days later. The hard part was editing Bella, because she is not someone you can just edit. She's total stream of conscience. Bella gave me awesome stories.

Now the hard part. What to put in, and not put in. Since this would be all text, no photos, it was like organizing a jigsaw puzzle. I kicked in some stories of my own. And that's how it came together.

Hopefully, some poor guys will use this guide and have a killer bachelor party, and thank us.... and he'll have it at Mark's bar with Bella's boobs in his face...

Rainout. Yankees. But that doesn't stop us from going to Stan's, the best bar next to The Stadium. Still have to get in the mandatory 2 hotdogs/2 beers, right???

As luck would have it, it is St. Pauli Girl Night. The night is salvaged somewhat by the appearance of the adorable Melody (left) and Janet. So with the heavens pouring down on the Bronx, the patrons at Stan's at least get to enjoy a good promo night. And Janet says they'll be at the Bar Show. Good news.

If you want a true New York City experience then mark your calendar for Sunday June 9 for the first pig roast of the season at Red Rock West. It begins at 2 p.m.

Nothing beats eating meat and drinking beer in the sunshine on Tenth Avenue, with scores of amazing Harleys parked all over the place. The crowd is good and the food isn't to be missed. The bar is hopping and crazy busy. Bring your appetite and you'll have a great time at Red Rock!
